What is ‘Mind diet’?

Our mind is the most important part of our body. Mind has its own functions, to fulfill all the functions properly our mind should be healthy and fit. To keep our mind healthy and active we do various activities in our day today life such as yoga, meditation, physical exercises etc. For any kind of health problem or keeping a particular organ/body part healthy we often take care of our diet. Diet also plays an essential role in strengthening our mind and making it healthy enough to function upon. 

There are various diets available for weight loss, weight gain, treating various chronic diseases etc. similarly there’s a diet trending nowadays called ‘mind diet’. Today through this article we’ll know everything about the mind diet, so let’s dive into today’s interesting article. 

What is a mind diet?

Mind diet is made to strengthen our mind by following a diet called mind diet. With aging our body starts weakening and the strength of the body decreases slowly slowly similarly capacity of our mind also decreases with the time/aging. To maintain a mind’s strength and capacity, a mind diet is made by experts. 

Mind diet is made by combining two different diets called dash diet and mediterranean diet. The Mediterranean diet was made for heart patients, it is a plant based diet and dash diet was introduced for the hypertensive patients. When this diet was given to the patients experts noticed some positive effects of diet on the brain also, this encouraged them to form a mind diet looking at the good result of diets on the brain.

How to follow a Mind diet?

In mind diet, 3 types of grains are necessary in a daily routine: brown rice, oatmeal and quinoa are considered to be the most effective as they are rich in fiber and antioxidants. These nutrients help in increasing oxygen level in the brain and improves brain functioning. 

Second most important food to consume daily is nuts. Almonds and walnuts are also very helpful for brain strengthening. Almonds and walnuts should be taken in soaked form only as these forms of intake have positive and quick results.

Third comes berries, wherein strawberries come first then all the others such as blueberry, blackberry, raspberry etc. As the berries are rich in antioxidants and the color of the berries also helps a lot in strengthening the capacity of the brain.

For non vegetarians fish, chicken and poultry items are very helpful in particular amounts and fish contains good amounts of omega 3. Fish oil capsules are also helpful if anyone is not consuming fish.

Red also plays an important role in this diet as it contains a compound called resveratrol, but it should be taken only 150ml per day and non alcoholics can skip it easily.
