What causes kidney stones?

Kidney stone is a very common problem in all the age groups, in some people the kidney stone arises again and again even after removing the stone. Kidney stones are of three different types: calcium oxalate which is found commonly, stone uric acid and stone calcium phosphate which are usually seen in the people having any type of infection. Besides there are more types of kidney stones taking place in the human body but they are very rare ones. 

How do kidney stone forms?

Take a glass of water and add salt to it. You’ll see the salt gets dissolved into water easily and goes on adding an amount of salt continuously at a time you’ll figure out the salt is not dissolving into water. Slowly you’ll see the undissolved salt starts forming small small particles that start gathering at a place in the form of solid lump. 

Similarly, In our urine calcium and oxalate remain in a solution form in a particular limit as the concentration of solution increases into urine it starts forming crystals. Slowly slowly these crystals go on adjoining and form a kidney stone. These stones affect the kidney and if the stone remains at a place for long term it can cause kidney failure.

  • Avoid obesity as it increase risk of kidney stone
  • Increase intake of citrus fruits and juices
  • Increase fruits and green veggies in your diet plan
  • Avoid junk food, processed food and oily food items
  • Avoid high salt diet
  • Take peeled apples
  • Avoid high oxalate foods strictly
  • Avoid consumption of chocolates, spinach, dry fruits and black tea
  • Avoid non veg food items

Treatment

Treatment for kidney stones is very easy and various forms of treatments are available as the technologies are getting advanced day by day. As earlier nowadays no cuts are given on the body to operate kidney stones. Kidney stones are removed through the laser technology wherein laser is inserted through urethra and stone is broken into small pieces and the stone particles come out with urine. Another way is lithotripsy, in which the patient is made to sleep on a table which already contains a machine fixed which breaks down the stone through rays.
